The Sandtown Community Website

Welcome to Sandtown

Well, come on in...don't be shy. We love it when people stop by to visit our little corner of the world. It doesn't matter what you look like or what you're wearing, whether you're rich or poor, urban or suburban, black or white. The only thing that matters is the "content of your character".

It is our hope that our site will inform, educate, inspire and encourage all who visit with us. Because we believe that our story is one of hope, hope for all communities like ours that have experienced what the experts refer to as urban blight. Against tremendous odds we've refused to quit, to give in to the temptation to cut and run when it looked like all was lost. Armed with a deep rooted faith in God and love for our community we continue in our struggle to rebuild our neighborhood. Those of us who have stuck it out, along with those who have joined us, will continue to "fight the good fight" until the day when "God's Peace" is a reality in Sandtown. We have a long way to go, and it's going to take a lot of hard work, but by God's grace we know we will be more than conquerors in our struggle.

What's inside?

We hope the content you'll find inside is useful for both the community resident and visitor alike. The following is a brief description of the contents of each section of the site.

  • The Welcome page is where you are now and is the introduction to the site.
  • On the "About Sandtown" page you will find out about the rich history and traditions of Sandtown, the blight it experienced in the 70's and 80's and it's ongoing effort to rebuild itself. There are also subsections here entitled Represent and Community that provide useful information about those serving/representing and the community at large. These two sections contain most of the site's substantive content with regards to the here and now of Sandtown today.
  • In the "News & Events" section we keep visitors up to date with what's happening both in Sandtown and Baltimore. The page includes links to local TV stations, print media and real time traffic cams throughout the metropolitan area.
  • Moving on to "Our City" you can get information on all that's happening in the Baltimore area. We've compiled information on the cultural, artistic, sporting and entertainment venues that are available throughout the region. There are also links to key government services for both residents and visitors.
  • If you need to locate something fast, then our "Search" page is the place to go. There you can search the site by keyword or view the Table of Contents for the site.
  • Lastly, the "Contact" page provides information on contacting us as well as many city agencies and community resources.
